Making Magic

I don’t know when I fell in love with weddings & parties & making magic. It’s something that just always seemed to be there.

I’ve got a HUGE family & as a kid there were almost weekly weddings, celebrations, birthdays, parties, reunions & more. I grew up on my mom’s apron strings, in the kitchen with the ladies who make it happen. Seeing their proud-diligent-joyful bustle sculpted my sense of celebration. Watching them transform churches, meeting rooms, backyards, and school stages into inviting venues filled with warmth & smiles & food gave me a lasting sense of what community can be.

In college I took what those ladies taught me about making it happen to the theater. I learned more about timing & how to draw the eye with tantalizing details, light, motion, & sound. I learned how to apply my artist’s eye to crafting experiences & unforgettable moments. Stage management eventually became event production for non-profits and fundraising events. Helping stellar causes build a better world is still close to my heart, but in 2018 I found my true love – wedding planning.

Starting Blondie Events felt like coming home after a long, strange, exciting trip through several careers. My sweet mom, always up to try any of my truly outrageous ideas, has been with me every step of the way. And so has my nerdy-pyrotechnic-sound-engineering dad.

This little wedding planning & design biz wouldn’t be what it is without my first & best assistant (plus husband) Robin. Quick shout out to all the super supportive spouses in the wedding world!

And serious sidebar babes & boys - get yourselves a Robin. He once drove 8 hours straight in the wee hours of the morning after a friend’s wedding to volunteer at a bike race fundraiser I had coordinated.

Blondie Events has grown & changed over the years & has become so much a part of me. As a wedding planner, I’ve wandered all over; from the majestic views of Utah’s mountains to the rugged peaks of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; the dells of Wisconsin to the hills of Vermont & I’m comfortably, happily settled in Northern Colorado.

Blondie Events has been big & small, ambitious & quiet in different seasons. I’ve planned remote wedding weekends & intimate backyard weddings; charity golf tournaments & million-dollar fundraisers. I’ve designed intricate installations & celebrations saturated with color.

But one constant through all my experience & change – especially in this new chapter of Colorado wedding planning - is my dedication to being one of those sassy, fun-loving, hard working, take-no-shit, ladies behind the scenes who make the magic & togetherness happen.
