Samantha + Greg's Wedding

Wedding planning in 2020 has been seriously tricky, but Samantha + Greg’s mountain resort wedding is proof that true love conquers all!

I love chatting with couples about their weddings, but planning and inquiry calls this year have had a slightly different feel. Conversations that are usually bright, bubbly, and carefree have been tinged with stress and uncertainty as couples face rescheduling, scaling back, or even canceling their celebrations.

When Samantha and I first connected, she had already moved her wedding venue due to the pandemic - shifting from an indoor reception to an outdoor gathering. She was able to keep her original date by moving to a less traditional venue, a local State Park, but needed help adjusting her plans.

With a month of management package + decor add on, we started to reconfigure her original plans to match the new venue and ever changing rules-regulations-challenges of a 2020 wedding. Things were humming along and plans were nearly finalized, but then in true 2020 fashion, we hit a major snag!

During a routine vendor readiness check four weeks prior to the wedding, I discovered that the State Park the couple had booked was operating under a different set of regulations from wedding venues in the area. These rules would effectively cut the already reduced guest list in half - ouch!

Side note: I love planning weddings in National Parks and State Parks, but they have some unique challenges that the pandemic has intensified. With a bit of tenacity and early communication, we can work through these challenges. If you’re thinking about a park wedding, we should definitely chat!

Now this is where panic would usually set in - revising the guest list, finding a new venue, reconfiguring the vendor team, redesigning the decor and floor plan to match, new timelines all with just weeks to go - that could seriously send anyone into a wedding planning panic. Here’s something pretty to help that anxiety subside.

Panic isn’t really our style at Blondie Events, we prefer to spring into action - so we started pulling every string we could find, got seriously flexible, and had lots of phone calls with the couple both to empathize and replan.

Within a week, Sam + Greg were under contract with a new venue. Two weeks later we had a new design for the decor, and a week after that we were back to finalizing details as usual. Oh heck yeah!

Big bumps in the wedding planning process aren’t super common, but they do happen. Offering a safety net to couples that helps them adapt, think through options, and get as close to their original ideal as possible - yeah, I seriously dig that.

And I seriously dig how beautiful, relaxed and fun Samantha + Greg’s wedding turned out! You can see their love in every detail and smile.

Special thanks to the team at Snowbird Cliff Lodge for their help making wedding magic happen.
